BOSTON, July 6 (Nationwide Times) — A German World Cup fan left the United States saying “America is great” after an emotional trip that began with fear and ended with tears, according to an NBC 10 Boston interview.

NBC 10 Boston identified the fan as Sebastian Krause. In the interview, Krause said he had been “a bit scared” to travel to the United States because of overseas news about shootings, criminals and safety concerns.

Krause said the experience changed his mind after Boston residents helped him when he got stuck at a stadium and drove him to his hotel. “I fall in love with this country and this was so emotional, I even cried in the stadium,” he said.

He also said, “Americans are not rude. Germans are not rude. If we are together, we can achieve great things.” NBC reporter Oscar Margáin said Krause “never imagined his trip to America would be so emotional.”
