WASHINGTON, July 29 (DC Times Online) — President Donald Trump eulogized the late Sen. Lindsey Graham at Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., calling the South Carolina Republican “a force of nature” and saying, “I will miss him greatly.”

In remarks streamed from the cathedral, Trump described Graham as “a beloved friend, a devoted brother, a respected statesman, a giant of the United States Senate, and a true American original who left us much too soon.” He said Graham “died doing the work he was born to do” and called him “a truly great politician.”

Trump said that for more than 30 years, “nothing of consequence happened in this capital without Lindsey Graham knowing about it,” adding that Graham had influence on legislation and world affairs.

The Washington, D.C., medical examiner said Graham died earlier in July at age 71 from an aortic dissection. Episcopal News Service reported that Graham was honored earlier in the day at the U.S. Capitol and that a South Carolina funeral was planned for July 29 at First Baptist Church of Columbia, followed by private burial.
