BEND, Ore., Oct. 15 (Infinite Headlines) — A shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, left multiple victims, including children, on Oct. 15, 2026, Bend police said. Police confirmed the suspected shooter was shot and killed inside the school.

Three children and one adult were killed in addition to the suspect, CNN reported, citing preliminary information from an unnamed law-enforcement source. Police had not confirmed a victim death toll at their earlier briefing.

Bend Police Department spokesperson Sheila Miller said authorities did not know who shot the suspect.

“We don’t have confirmation yet who shot the suspect. It may have been a bystander,” Miller said.

Officers arrived around 1 p.m. and learned shortly afterward that the suspect was down, police said. An AOL-hosted report put their arrival at 1:02 p.m., two minutes after notification.

At least two people were taken to a hospital, police said. Miller identified the hospital as St. Charles Medical Center, according to The Source. Police said the patients’ conditions were unknown and did not specify whether they were children.

A Yahoo News report, citing unnamed law-enforcement sources, said two other children were hospitalized in unknown condition. It also reported that the adult killed was believed to be a teacher, citing unnamed sources.

CNN reported, citing unnamed law-enforcement sources, that the suspected shooter was a 16-year-old male. The Associated Press reported at least five deaths, including the shooter, according to The Source. As of 4:30 p.m., official law-enforcement channels had not confirmed that account, The Source reported.

Authorities were working to evacuate roughly 40 staff members and 450 enrolled children to Journey Church, according to the AOL-hosted report. A Reuters report also identified the church as a family reunification location.

The shooting occurred shortly before 1 p.m., The Source reported. Its reporters observed police examining vehicles outside the school, where parents, teachers and children had gathered.
