DEARBORN, Mich., July 1 (Our Michigan Times) — Ford is recalling 741,195 U.S. SUVs and pickups after a transmission defect that can damage the park system and increase the risk of rollaway, crash or injury, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

The recall covers certain 2018-2021 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models, 2020-2021 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator models, and 2021 Ford F-150 pickups.

Ford dealers are expected to update software and inspect or replace damaged transmission components at no cost, according to the recall notice. NHTSA said interim owner letters were expected to be mailed Aug. 3, and a final remedy is anticipated by April 2027.

Ford’s recall number for the campaign is 26S48. NHTSA said it had received reports of property damage and injuries tied to the defect.
