STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo., July 1 (Our Colorado Times) — Surveillance video shows a bear sitting in the front seat of a parked truck in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, before Andy Kerrigan used a wooden plank to drive it away, according to the footage and Kerrigan’s account.
Kerrigan said the encounter happened June 23 while he was walking near a residential building on Clubhouse Drive. He said he opened the truck and found the animal inside, then backed away when it moved toward him.
Kerrigan said he was “astonished, surprised” and believed the bear may have pushed the window down as it climbed in. He also said it was “sitting shotgun eating my lunch.”
Justin E. Pickar, who recorded the surveillance video, said he was scared at first and later laughed once he knew Kerrigan was okay. The footage shows Kerrigan using a 2-by-4 from the truck bed to make noise until the bear left.
