SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa., July 5 (DC Times Online) — Pennsylvania authorities have charged Michael Bon, a Brockton, Massachusetts, truck driver, with homicide by vehicle and other offenses in the death of Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Michael Pahira, court records show.

Bon faces counts of involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving and six lesser charges, according to the charging information cited in the records. He was being held at Schuylkill County Prison on $700,000 bail, and a court hearing was set for July 15.

Police said the crash involved a white 2019 Freightliner with Florida registration DF64HU and a trailer loaded with clothing, according to a police report cited by The Boston Globe.

Federal records show the Department of Homeland Security terminated Bon’s parole in June 2025 and ordered him to leave the United States. The records also show he entered the country through Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in July 2024 under the Biden administration’s humanitarian parole program and later applied for Temporary Protected Status, which was denied.

State licensing records show Bon received a Massachusetts non-domiciled commercial driver’s license in March 2025 and renewed it in February 2026, according to the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. DHS has lodged an immigration detainer against him, according to the records.
