CARACAS, Venezuela, July 7 (World Daily Times) — In Washington, the State Department updated its Venezuela travel advisory on June 27, keeping the country at Level 3 “Reconsider Travel” and adding recent earthquakes to warnings that already cite violent crime and irregular armed groups.

The advisory says violent crime in Venezuela includes homicide, armed robbery and kidnapping. It also says irregular armed groups can carry out acts of violence without warning and that there are no reliable crime statistics.

Several areas remain under the stricter Level 4 “Do Not Travel” advisory, including the Venezuela-Colombia border region, Amazonas, Apure, Aragua state outside Maracay, Guárico, Táchira and rural parts of Bolívar.

State Department guidance says Level 4 is the highest warning level and reflects a greater likelihood of life-threatening risks, with very limited ability for the U.S. government to help in an emergency.
