PORTSMOUTH, N.H., Aug. 31 (Nationwide Times) — Wyatt Seely, 17, of Rochester, New Hampshire, faces charges after state police said he fled an attempted traffic stop and drove through a fence at Portsmouth International Airport, where the car struck a tractor and a parked aircraft.

New Hampshire State Police said the incident happened shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday in Portsmouth. Seely’s arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 9, 2026, in Portsmouth District Court.

What police say happened

A state trooper tried to stop a black 2008 Ford Mustang on Durham Street because police said the vehicle was connected to reported crimes in other local jurisdictions. The driver allegedly fled.

State police said the Mustang was traveling without its lights on when it crashed through the airport’s perimeter fence. It crossed an aircraft parking apron, struck a Kubota tractor and then hit a small, parked, unoccupied aircraft before stopping.

Troopers took Seely into custody and brought him to a local hospital for evaluation, according to state police.

The charges listed by police are aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated, disobeying a police officer, conduct after an accident and reckless driving. The allegations have not been proven in court. The supplied reports do not include a blood-alcohol result or details explaining the aggravated DWI allegation.

What happened at the airport

The aircraft and the Mustang were damaged, WMUR reported, citing airport officials. The Pease Fire Department also controlled a fuel leak from the privately owned plane, according to the station.

The airport remained open during cleanup, WMUR reported. Officials have not provided the extent or cost of the damage in the information available for this report.

No one other than the driver was reported injured, according to state police accounts cited in the supplied coverage.

What happens next

Seely is due in Portsmouth District Court for an arraignment, a proceeding at which a defendant is formally informed of the charges and enters an initial plea. The available information does not identify a defense lawyer, prosecutor, judge, bail conditions or any plea.

The state police account also does not identify the reported crimes that prompted the attempted stop or specify the jurisdictions involved. No statement from Seely, a defense attorney, the prosecutor or the aircraft’s owner was included in the available records.
