NEW YORK, July 24 (Our New York News) — New York police arrested Raul Morales, 51, after two men were stabbed on Manhattan’s Upper West Side Thursday afternoon, and investigators were treating the case as a possible hate crime, officials said.

Police said the first attack was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m. near Central Park West. A second man was stabbed nearby soon after.

Both victims were taken to Mount Sinai West and were described by police as stable. Police did not immediately say whether charges had been filed.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he had been briefed and that the NYPD “responded immediately and arrested Raul Morales in connection with both assaults.” He said witness and victim statements indicated the attacker yelled “Allahu Akbar” during both attacks. Law enforcement sources said a witness saw the suspect walk into a building on Amsterdam Avenue, and officers took a person of interest into custody about an hour later.
