BAHRAIN, June 27 (World Daily Times) — Bahrain said Iran launched drones into its territory, calling the strike a direct threat to the kingdom’s security as Gulf states and the Gulf Cooperation Council issued rapid condemnations.
Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry described the attack as a “flagrant threat” and said Iran’s actions undermined peace efforts. GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi called the attack “treacherous” and said it would weaken regional de-escalation efforts.
Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said the strikes were “a dangerous undermining of endeavors for peace and stability” and warned they threatened regional security. Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates also condemned the attack, with their foreign ministries saying it violated Bahrain’s sovereignty and international law.
Fox News, citing The Associated Press, reported that no casualties or significant damage had been reported. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said on state-run television that it had targeted several locations it described as belonging to “the U.S. terrorist army in the region.”
Roya News reported that Bahrain tied the attack to commitments under a memorandum of understanding, while the New York Times reported that Gulf foreign ministers meeting in Bahrain had earlier called for an immediate end to Iranian assaults and said Tehran was fully accountable.
